Make it a family affair
Every holiday – even now when they are 17 & 16 – we ask Lizzy and Chloe to find gently used items they no longer need and donate them. If items are coming in, we always need items going out first. This not only created a habit of giving but kept our home in *reasonable* shape. Consider donating to Goodwill, Samaritan House or a shelter or charity of your choice.
Here are some fun ways to get your kids involved
Atlantic Outreach Group: Hosts DIY projects like creating family and emergency meal kits, or breakfast kits.
Better2gether RVA: Offers at-home "DIY" projects, such as assembling items for their "Better Bags for Better2gether" initiative.
Operation Gratitude: Write thank you letters to our military and first responder communities.
Project Linus: If your kids are crafty, having them make and donate a handmade blanket to be donated to children under 18
